Kazakhstan expands China network with new mission in Guangzhou
Kazakhstan officially opened a Consulate General in Guangzhou on Friday, January 16.
Guangzhou, the administrative centre of Guangdong Province, is one of southern China’s largest business hubs.
Kazakh media reports that the consular district of the new mission covers multiple regions, including Guangdong, Hunan, Hainan, Yunnan, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
With this opening, the total number of foreign diplomatic missions in Guangzhou has risen to 70.
The new consulate reflects a growing engagement between Kazakhstan and southern China. In recent years, trade, business travel, and passenger traffic between the regions have increased significantly.
In June 2025, China Southern Airlines launched direct flights between Guangzhou and Almaty, initially three times per week; the service now operates five times weekly.
Kazakh authorities expect that the consulate will simplify business processes, speed up consular procedures, and serve as another step toward strengthening economic and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
Kazakhstan’s diplomatic network in China now includes missions in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Guangzhou, and Urumqi.
