AESA radars (Active Electronic Scanning Array) of domestic production, with which it is planned to equip the upgraded F-16 aircraft of the Turkish Air Force, will first appear in service with Akıncı attack UAVs.
Ismail Demir, the head of Türkiye's Defence Industries' Presidency, who visited the enterprise of the flagship of the Turkish defence industry – ASELSAN company in the Gelbashi district in Ankara, made the remarks, according to Anadolu.
There he was informed about the project to modernise the country's Air Force fleet.
Demir said that Türkiye aims at maximum import substitution of aviation systems and ammunition.
"All the developments and experience will be used and implemented in the development of a domestic fifth-generation aircraft. Domestic radars will first receive unmanned aircraft, and only then the F-16. That is, very soon we will use UAVs with domestic AESA radars," he added.
