Türkiye to produce high-speed train of locally-made components

The design of the trains of the national production is planned to be completed by late 2022.

The goal of the project is to reduce the country's dependence on the import of trains and create an export potential in this sphere, Anadolu Agency reports with reference to the local rolling stock manufacturer Türkiye Raylı Sistem Araçları Sanayii A.Ş. (TÜRASAŞ).

The developed infrastructure and knowledge gained within the project entitled "National Electric Train of the New Generation" is making the basis for the new project.

The Turkish-designed high-speed train which will run up to 225 km/h will consist of eight railcars able to carry up to 582 passengers.

A prototype of the train is being created along with the design work.
