Türkiye, UAE leaders talk Iran-Israel tensions, Gaza crisis
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, focusing on escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, bilateral relations, and wider regional developments.
According to a statement from Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications, Erdoğan expressed deep concern over the growing cycle of violence triggered by Israel’s strikes on Iran, warning that it threatens the security of the entire region, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
He stressed that the Middle East cannot afford another war and underlined the importance of resolving disputes through diplomacy.
Erdoğan reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to pursuing peace diplomacy and called for intensified international efforts to de-escalate tensions.
He also emphasised that the current situation must not overshadow the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Highlighting the broader implications, the Turkish President warned that unless attention returns to Gaza, the risk of further instability could extend to the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
He also advocated for a return to negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme, pointing to diplomacy as the only viable path forward.
