Two drivers forced into early exits from Formula 2 practice in Baku PHOTO

Two drivers were forced to end their participation early in the free practice session for the Formula 2 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.

MP Motorsport’s Oliver Goethe and Invicta Racing’s Joshua Dürksen were unable to complete the session.

The 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend officially got underway in Baku on Thursday, September 24, with both Formula 1 and Formula 2 action taking place at Baku City Circuit as the event runs through Saturday, September 26. 

For Formula 1, Baku is the 15th round of the 2026 championship, with Free Practice 1 and 2 scheduled for September 24, Free Practice 3 and qualifying on September 25, and the Grand Prix itself on September 26.

Formula 2 is also racing in Baku this weekend as part of its 2026 season, with the championship’s races running alongside the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix through September 26.

Ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli leads the Formula 1 drivers’ standings with 292 points, followed by teammate George Russell on 211.

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton sits third with 191 points, 10 points ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris.
