Ukraine calls Southern Gas Corridor talks crucial amid global energy shifts
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Baku, Yuriy Husev, has emphasised the significance of the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council, describing it as a key platform for strategic dialogue amid global challenges and the transformation of energy markets.
As reported by Caliber.Az, Husev shared his remarks in a post on Facebook. He stressed that energy issues have long extended beyond the realm of economics and have become matters of geopolitics and security. In this context, he underscored that the reliability of supply routes, the predictability of deliveries and mutual trust among partners are crucial to ensuring resilience in Europe and worldwide.
“That is why the development of alternative gas routes and the expansion of cooperation between countries are of particular importance,” the ambassador stated.
Husev further noted that Ukraine has consistently been a dependable partner in advancing diversification projects, developing infrastructure and integrating energy markets. He highlighted that Ukraine’s experience, geographic position and strategic outlook make the country an integral component of joint efforts aimed at securing stable and predictable energy supplies to Europe.
According to the ambassador, a strong and diversified European energy system is fundamental to the continent’s strategic autonomy and resilience. “Therefore, the decisions and agreements adopted today are significant not only for the energy sector, but also for the broader security architecture of the continent,” he added.
The 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council are taking place today at the Baku Congress Centre. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev delivered remarks at the event.
