Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk FC eyes to play home matches in Poland
Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk football club intends to play home matches of the 2022/2023 Champions League in Poland.
“Shakhtar has recently played a friendly match against Legia Warszawa. Our football club will play more matches in Poland. Poland helps Ukraine and we have a plan how to respond,” Shakhtar Donetsk director Darijo Srna said, Report informs citing SportoweFakty.
“We would like to play Champions League matches in Poland! We could show our gratitude this way. It is a pity that no Polish club plays in the Champions League, however, we would be happy to play these matches in Poland. I think Warsaw would be a favorable place for our Champions League matches,” Srna said.
The current season of the Ukrainian championship has been canceled. During the pause, the standings of the Ukrainian Premier League for the 2021/2022 season were led by Shakhtar Donetsk, which scored 47 points in 18 matches.
