Ukrainian president draws parallels between Tomahawk missile delivery, US sanctions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the decision to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles as “very sensitive,” but suggested it could follow a trajectory similar to the introduction of US sanctions, which once seemed unlikely but ultimately materialized.
Zelenskyy announced this ahead of the European Council summit alongside European Parliament President António Costa, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
“Tomahawk is a very sensitive decision. But it’s like with the sanctions — it was hard to believe before, and now we have decisions on energy. Now we have the same with long-range [missiles],” he said.
The president expressed optimism that a decision on the delivery of Tomahawk missiles will be reached in due course but stressed that the ultimate decision rests solely with the United States.
“I think that at some point there will be a decision on them. But it depends solely on the American side,” Zelenskyy added.
