UN ready to assist Azerbaijan in hosting COP29 Stressing importance of green energy transition

During a conference on COP29 in Baku, Acting Resident Representative of the UN Development Programme in Azerbaijan, Alessandra Roccasalvo, underscored Azerbaijan's abundant oil and gas reserves.

She stressed the imperative for both Azerbaijan and other nations to transition to green energy in a timely manner, APA reports.

Roccasalvo also highlighted Azerbaijan's potential in the solar and wind energy sectors.

She emphasized that climate change is a global issue requiring international collaboration, stating that Azerbaijan's hosting of COP29 carries significant responsibility. She expressed the UN's readiness to provide comprehensive support to Azerbaijan in this endeavour, recognizing the importance of collective efforts in combating climate change.
