Up to 300,000 NATO servicemen may be deployed in Poland In case of threat
Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Karol Dymanowski has said that several thousand NATO servicemen have been deployed in Poland.
“Several thousand NATO servicemen have been deployed in Poland. However, their number may greatly increase in case of a threat,” he said, according to TVP Info.
Dymanowski noted that the US servicemen were deployed in Poland long ago.
“There are several thousand servicemen. They train with us regularly. The US and other allies also support us in other spheres, namely, in the air, at sea, in space and in cybersecurity,” the general said.
While answering the question whether it is possible to increase the number of the US servicemen in Poland to 100,000 people, the general said that this is a realistic scenario.
“This is the prerequisite of NATO's latest plans, which were approved at the political level at the recent summit in Vilnius. Until now, the NATO contingent included 40,000 soldiers while there will be 300,000,” he said.
At the same time, he noted that 300,000 NATO servicemen are already on high alert.
Dymanowski said that soldiers will arrive in a country facing a threat even before the beginning of the war.
“This is the essence of the plans that are aimed at containment. We have various scenarios to adequately respond to aggression,” he added.
