Upcoming Azerbaijan–Iran business forum to boost trade, investment ties

27 May 2025 20:01

Azerbaijan will host a major business forum with Iran on June 18 in Baku, bringing together around 50 Iranian companies for strategic dialogue, B2B meetings, and the exploration of new opportunities to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.

This will mark the second business forum between the two countries in 2025, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The first was held on April 28 during the official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Azerbaijan. That event attracted over 120 Iranian business leaders, signalling growing interest in expanding economic collaboration. Currently, approximately 2,980 Iranian companies are registered in Azerbaijan. Iranian investments in the country have already surpassed $5 billion, reflecting a deepening economic relationship.

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, trade turnover between the two nations reached $204.54 million in the first four months of 2025, reflecting an 11.5 per cent year-on-year increase. Of this, Azerbaijani exports totalled $5.85 million—a 29 per cent rise—while imports from Iran climbed to $198.69 million, up 11.1 per cent. In 2024, bilateral trade stood at $647 million, a 33 per cent increase compared to the previous year. Both Baku and Tehran have set a bold goal: to grow annual trade turnover to $10 billion within the next five years.
