Ambassador: Over 500 Belarusian goods boost trade footprint in Azerbaijan

18 June 2025 12:40

Over 500 Belarusian products are currently available on the Azerbaijani market, Belarusian Ambassador Dmitry Pinevich announced during a business meeting between the Bellegprom delegation and Azerbaijani business representatives.

“It is highly important that among the more than 500 Belarusian product lines represented on the Azerbaijani market — across various sectors from industry and food to other fields — we already see some of our unique items from the light industry sector," Caliber.Az quotes Pinevich as saying via local media.

He expressed confidence that the day’s engagements would strengthen and expand Belarus’s presence in the Azerbaijani market, including through potential joint ventures.

“We are eager to develop a strategic partnership that meets modern challenges. This goes beyond economic ties and includes broader strategic cooperation between our peoples and the leaders of our two countries. I am confident that the light industry should play a key role in this process,” the diplomat added.

It is worth recalling that Azerbaijan and Belarus have cultivated a robust strategic and economic partnership, underpinned by mutual respect and shared interests.

In 2023, bilateral trade surged to over $507 million, marking a significant rebound from previous years.

This growth continued into 2024, with trade increasing by 42% to reach $506 million. As of the first quarter of 2025, trade turnover exceeded $101 million, with Azerbaijani exports to Belarus rising by 82%.

The economic collaboration spans various sectors, including industrial cooperation and infrastructure development. Since 2007, joint projects have been launched, such as the Belarusian tractor and truck assembly plants.

Additionally, a 2025–2027 action plan for cooperation in veterinary medicine was signed during a recent business forum in Baku.

Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin emphasised that the cornerstone of this relationship is trade and economic cooperation, which covers a broad range of areas and is characterised by high intensity.
