Energy minister highlights legacy of Azerbaijan’s “Contract of the Century”

Thirty-two years have passed since the signing of the “Contract of the Century,” a historic agreement authored by National Leader Heydar Aliyev that transformed Caspian oil wealth into Azerbaijan’s economic strength, international confidence and strategic energy partnerships, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov wrote on X.

“Today, building on this solid foundation, we are writing another page in our country’s energy history through new energy projects and green energy corridors,” he emphasized.

In another post, Shahbazov congratulated Azerbaijan’s oil workers on Oil Workers’ Day.

“On the occasion of September 20 — Oil Workers’ Day, I sincerely congratulate all our oil workers. The establishment by National Leader Heydar Aliyev of the date of the signing of the ‘Contract of the Century’ as a professional holiday for oil workers is an expression of high appreciation for their contribution to Azerbaijan’s economic development and energy security.

I wish strong health and success in their work to all our oil workers, who preserve the rich traditions of our oil industry and contribute to the implementation of our country’s new energy goals!” the minister said.
