Italy remains Azerbaijan’s top trading partner in January-August

Italy remained Azerbaijan’s largest trading partner in the first eight months of 2026, with bilateral trade turnover reaching $8.41 billion, according to the State Customs Committee (SCC).

Trade with Italy accounted for 25.31% of Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade turnover and increased by 1.3% compared with the same period in 2025, Caliber.Az reports.

Türkiye ranked second, with trade turnover of $3.82 billion, representing 11.49% of the total. However, trade with Türkiye declined by 0.7% year-on-year.

The United Kingdom ranked third, with trade turnover surging fourfold to $3.69 billion and accounting for 11.09% of Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade.

China ranked fourth with $2.99 billion, up 1.8% year-on-year, while Russia followed with $2.41 billion, down 27.9%.

The remaining countries in Azerbaijan’s top 10 trading partners were Georgia, with $770.9 million (+42.3%); Germany, with $768.6 million (-25.6%); the Czech Republic, with $756.6 million (+7.7%); Romania, with $649.5 million (+30.3%); and Greece, with $631 million (+31.9%).

Overall, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover rose 3.5% year-on-year in January-August 2026 to $33.24 billion, according to SCC data.

In 2025, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover stood at $49.42 billion, marking a 3.8% increase compared with 2024.
