US delays planned sale of precision weapons to Israel
07 May 2024 10:11
The sale of high-precision weapons to Israel has been postponed by the United States, as reported by The Wall Street Journal citing insider sources.
The deal, which involves approximately 6,500 JDAM guidance kits capable of converting standard aircraft munitions into guided ones, was initially proposed at $260 million to the U.S. Congress back in January.
However, lawmakers have yet to receive official notification, and the Biden administration has not taken the necessary steps to finalize the sale, according to the report.
The delay, described by Congress official as uncommon especially in times of conflict and with Israel, has not been elaborated upon regarding its underlying reasons.
