US lifts sanctions on Turkish shipbuilding firm Kuzey Star

The United States has officially removed Turkish shipbuilding company Kuzey Star from its sanctions list, according to a list issued by the US Department of the Treasury.

The decision, announced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), lifts restrictions that were previously imposed under US sanctions targeting entities linked to Russia, Caliber.Az reports.

Kuzey Star had been sanctioned by the US in January 2025 for its cooperation with Russia's Atomflot, a state-owned operator of nuclear-powered icebreakers. Atomflot itself was added to the US sanctions list in May 2023 as part of broader measures targeting Russia's maritime and energy sectors.
