US State Secretary, Qatari PM discuss Gaza Strip situation over phone
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani held a telephone conversation with American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during which he pointed to the need to complete the fighting in the Gaza Strip.
One of the key topics of the conversation was the current situation in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli crisis. During the conversation, the Chairman of the Qatari government expressed concern over the continuation of bombardment in the Gaza Strip, the QNA news agency reports.
According to him, the strikes by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on the Palestinian enclave "complicate mediation efforts" to restore a truce between the parties to the conflict. Moreover, the prime minister said that the attacks have a negative impact on the humanitarian situation in the territory.
According to the agency, during the talks, Al-Thani told Blinken of the Qatari authorities' strong condemnation of all forms of attacks on civilians. In particular, he stated the inadmissibility of harming women and children.
Moreover, the head of government condemned the policy of collective punishment and called for measures to open humanitarian corridors. The latter are needed to deliver essential goods to the Gaza Strip.
