US-Ukraine “prosperity plan” on hold as Zelenskyy cancels Davos appearance
The planned signing of the so-called “prosperity plan” between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos was scrapped.
A U.S. official denied any date had been set and said the plan still needed some work, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
The plan is intended to guide Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna, had previously suggested that Davos could be the venue for its signing.
Despite the cancellation, President Trump still plans to meet with President Zelenskyy and a number of European leaders.
Zelenskyy’s appearance at the forum was cancelled after a nighttime missile attack in Kyiv forced him to remain in the capital.
Trump will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, heading the largest-ever American delegation of over 300 officials. Around 1,300 participants, including global political and business leaders, will discuss key geopolitical and economic challenges.
Key topics are US-EU tensions over Greenland and potential new US tariffs. European leaders, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, aim for direct talks with Trump
