Uzbek president, Azerbaijani top diplomat discuss deepening strategic partnership PHOTO/UPDATED
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on April 15, 2024, during the latter's working visit to Uzbekistan.
The meeting, characterized by warmth and mutual respect, aimed at fortifying the longstanding ties between the two nations, which are deeply rooted in historical, cultural, and religious affinities, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Minister Bayramov, speaking on behalf of Azerbaijan, lauded the exemplary nature of the strategic partnership shared between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. He emphasized the multifaceted nature of bilateral relations, spanning political, economic, trade, transport, communications, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, expressing satisfaction with the existing cooperation.
Underlining the significance of expanding collaboration, Minister Bayramov highlighted the importance of mutual support and solidarity within regional and international organizations, with a particular emphasis on the Organization of Turkic States, which holds a prime position in Azerbaijan's priorities.
An important aspect of the discussion was Azerbaijan's readiness to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) later this year. Minister Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to cooperating with Uzbekistan and other nations in implementing joint measures to address environmental challenges.
In addition to bilateral matters, both parties engaged in constructive dialogue on a range of issues concerning regional and multilateral cooperation. The post-conflict regional situation featured prominently in the discussions, reflecting the shared commitment to promoting stability and prosperity in the region.

On April 15, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the second ministerial meeting on the Strategic Dialogue “Central Asia - Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf”.
As reported by Caliber.Az, the announcement finds itself in a message provided by the Uzbek Presidential Administration press service.
According to the message, at the beginning of the meeting, Bayramov conveyed sincere greetings and good wishes of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev to the head of Uzbekistan.
Further, issues of further expansion of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation were considered.
“Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of agreements at the highest level and the formation of a portfolio of promising projects in 10 new areas of interaction.
It was noted with satisfaction that thanks to regular and productive contacts, bilateral relations have reached a qualitatively new level and are filled with concrete content,” the statement says.
The message also reads that last year, trade turnover increased by 27 per cent. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the automotive, electrical, energy, textile and agricultural industries. The Joint Investment Fund began its activities.
The schedule of upcoming meetings and events at the highest level was also reviewed.
