World population exceeds 8 billion

The world population has exceeded eight billion people as of August 2022.

The current population of the planet stands at 8.009 billion people, RBC-Ukraine reports citing the statistical service Countrymeters.

As reported, the male population prevails over the female residents of the Earth with 50.5 per cent against 49.5 per cent.

The top 10 countries by population remain the same: China (1.456 billion), India (1.418 billion), the US (336 million), Indonesia (281 million), Pakistan (230 million), Nigeria (218 million), Brazil (216 million), Bangladesh (169 million), Russia (146 million), and Mexico (132 million).

According to the UN data, the population of the Earth was earlier predicted to reach eight billion only by the middle of November 2022.
