Yerevan confirms first-ever high-level visit by Armenian PM to Türkiye
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is set to visit Türkiye on June 20 at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, marking a significant diplomatic development between the two neighboring countries.
The visit was confirmed by Alen Simonyan, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Describing the upcoming trip as "bilateral" in nature, Simonyan suggested that Yerevan anticipates a reciprocal visit from the Turkish leader in the future. "I believe this visit is historic," he stated. "It is the first time an Armenian leader will make a visit at this level."
According to Armenian media, citing a senior diplomatic source, the planned visit will focus on discussions surrounding Armenia’s bilateral relations with both Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
A key item on the agenda is said to be the ongoing efforts to reach a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku. Other regional matters are also expected to be raised during the talks.
Earlier, journalists reached out to the Armenian prime minister’s spokesperson, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, for confirmation or comment, but she did not answer calls.
This upcoming visit follows a phone conversation between Pashinyan and Erdoğan on June 5, during which the two leaders exchanged views on Armenian-Turkish relations and regional developments.
