Georgia's capital to celebrate Ukrainian borscht day on September 10
Tbilisi will celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Borsch on September 10 at 16:00 on Orbeliani Square.
The event will be held as part of the New Life project, the purpose of which is an adaptation of Ukrainian internally displaced persons in Georgia and cultural exchange, Novosti-Georgia reports.
Borscht Day is organized on the initiative of the House of Georgian-Ukrainian Press and Books, the Caravan on Orbeliani Fairground, IACD Revival, and with the support of the Tbilisi City Hall and the Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia.
For one evening, FORK, Pan Varenik and Odesa-Mama restaurants will move their kitchens to Orbeliani Square - everyone will make borscht. A fair of products of Ukrainian masters will also take place here. For children, master classes and entertainment will be arranged.
“Borsch is the most popular dish of Ukrainian cuisine, a kind of marker of national identity. Borscht can be red, green, with meat, lean, with beans, with crucian carp, with prunes… There are many recipes!”, the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia writes in its message.
UNESCO included the "Ukrainian borscht culture" on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2022.
