US to deploy HIMARS, infantry to Estonia soon
The United States plans to send an infantry company and a unit with HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to Estonia in the coming weeks.
This is reported by the BNS agency with reference to the Estonian Defence Ministry.
According to the agency, the American side will also transfer the necessary control systems and equipment to Estonia.
“This demonstrates the long-term commitment of the United States to the security of our region and significantly strengthens the defense posture of NATO. Estonia is consistently taking important steps to strengthen its independent defense capability,” said Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur.
It is reported that the US military plans to take part in joint exercises with Estonia. The transfer of American forces to the Baltic region is part of the rotation and permanent presence of US forces in the Baltics.
