EU Commissioner hails Azerbaijan's potential to become renewable energy exporter to EU

Our interest in renewable energy means an intention to expand cooperation with our reliable partners beyond gas supplies. The inauguration of the new Clean Energy Advisory Council means that today's agreement between the partners on this new direction and on shaping the future of sustainable energy is about using a wide range of tools.

EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson made the statement at the 9th ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 1st ministerial meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council on February 3, Azertag reported.

"It is a well-known fact that Azerbaijan has untapped renewable energy potential, especially in offshore wind energy. Thus, Azerbaijan can become a supplier of renewable energy and hydrogen to the EU. And our energy programme is already supporting Azerbaijan in accelerating the deployment and integration of renewable energy capacity. The European Union is offering our know-how in technology and private investment," the EU Commissioner added.
