Azerbaijan takes over 90 combat positions of Armenian armed forces under control MoD statement

The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Anar Eyvazov has said that Azerbaijan has taken over 90 combat positions of the Armenian armed forces under its control.

Eyvazov made the remarks at a briefing held for journalists on September 20, Caliber.Az reports.

He added that Armenia’s military equipment, combat positions and shelters were neutralised as part of anti-terrorist measures.

“More than 90 combat positions of the Armenian Armed Forces formations, as well as several strategically important heights were brought under the control of our Armed Forces. Moreover, seven military vehicles, four mortars, one tank, two infantry fighting vehicles and numerous ammunition belonging to Armenia were captured as trophies,” Eyvazov said.

He added that the Armenian military personnel without ammunition were leaving their combat positions in panic.

“This can be seen in the video footage that we will show,” the spokesman noted.

Eyvazov said that there are calls on social networks for the population to render assistance to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

“Citizens are urged to collect money, food and take part in various relief campaigns. The Defence Ministry recommends citizens not to respond to such calls. All the necessary work has been carried out to strengthen the material and technical base of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and to further improve food and other supplies. The necessary measures are being systematically taken to constantly provide our units with necessary goods in any conditions and in accordance with the standards,” he added.

Taking into account the appeal of representatives of the Armenian residents of Garabagh, received through the Russian peacekeeping contingent, an agreement was reached to suspend local anti-terrorist measures on September 20, 2023 at 13:00 (GMT+4) on the following conditions:

The Armenian Armed Forces and illegal Armenian armed formations deployed in the Garabagh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan lay down their arms, leave combat positions and military posts and are completely disarmed. The Armenian armed forces are leaving the Azerbaijani territory, illegal Armenian armed formations are being disbanded. At the same time, all weapons and heavy equipment are handed over.

The above-mentioned processes are carried out in coordination with the Russian peacekeeping contingent, the ministry’s statement said.
