Azerbaijan rules out any intention to limit rights of Garabagh Armenians President's special representative says
Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on special assignments, Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov has said that the Azerbaijani side does not intend to limit the rights and opportunities of Garabagh Armenians to use their native language, culture and religion.
“The only red line we will never allow to be crossed is something that could call into question Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said in an interview with BBC News, according to Report.
The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan and Armenia have no other choice but to be good neighbours.
“If we have no reason to be at enmity with each other, if at the highest political level, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia declared recognition of the territory, if they also declared that ‘we are neighbours’, then we have no other choice but to just be good neighbours,” Amirbayov said.
The ambassador noted that Azerbaijani servicemen tried to do their best to prevent any casualties among civilians during the recent rapid anti-terrorism measures.
“The anti-terrorism measures lasted less than one day and were similar to the actions of a surgeon, high-precision actions that were aimed at neutralising military targets,” he added.
