Official: Azerbaijan plans new bus routes connecting Aghdam to liberated lands
Azerbaijan plans to launch new bus routes connecting Aghdam city with other territories recently liberated from occupation, Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the districts of Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand, told journalists.
According to him, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport is actively working to implement the initiative, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Huseynov emphasised the symbolic importance of transportation links in the region, highlighting the launch of the Baku-Aghdam train on August 30. He described the event as “truly a very joyful day for our country and our people,” noting that the train’s operation represents a major step in the return of residents to areas restored after decades of occupation.
For the first time in Azerbaijan, the train now stops at an internal platform at the Aghdam railway bus station complex. Huseynov explained.
“There is a closed platform here, which allows passengers to feel comfortable at the station at any time of the year, regardless of weather conditions,” he added.
The official noted that restoration work in Aghdam is proceeding at an accelerated pace.
“Large-scale infrastructure projects are being implemented here. The first resettlement will begin in the coming months. By the end of next year, the historical cultural part of the city of Aghdam will be completely restored and handed over to the population for use,” Huseynov said.
The first Baku-Aghdam passenger train was launched on August 30 after 32 years.
