Azerbaijan proposes to optimise prices, conditions for transporting along Middle Corridor

The issues related to the future opportunities of the Middle Corridor, and the expansion of its activity, including the formation of a tariff policy for 2024 have been discussed at a meeting of the Working Group on the Development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), held in Baku on November 28.

The representatives of the Azerbaijani, Georgian, and Kazakh railways, port companies, and other partners, discussed strengthening mutual activity at the meeting to further improve the TITR’s viability, efficiency, and sustainable development, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan Railways company.

Azerbaijan Railways company made a number of proposals to improve the activity of the Association of Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Thus, the steps that should be taken to determine a new format of cooperation, formulate a tariff policy in accordance with market demand, optimise prices and conditions of transportation along the Middle Corridor in comparison with alternative routes, etc. were considered.

Currently, a digitalisation concept is being developed, negotiations are underway with international companies, and best practices are being studied to improve the functionality of the Middle Corridor.
