After three decades of abandonment and occupation, the sound of the last bell echoed through the halls of Fuzuli city's secondary school No.1 named after Mirzo Ulugbek.
This poignant moment marked the culmination of a remarkable journey for the educational institutions in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
With 465 students enrolled and eight proud graduates, the ceremony was a testament to resilience and renewal.
Eldar Seyidov, Chief Consultant of the Special Representative Office of the Azerbaijani President, Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education, alongside representatives from the Karabakh Regional Education Department, joined school staff and residents in commemorating this historic occasion.
As the national anthem played and a minute of silence honored the fallen heroes, the event commenced with a procession of graduates carrying flags, symbolizing hope and progress. Speakers lauded the efforts of President Ilham Aliyev, whose leadership and the victorious Azerbaijani Army paved the way for the liberation of these lands from occupation.
The reopening of secondary school No.1 named after Mirzo Ulugbek, stood as a beacon of brotherhood in the Turkic world, inaugurated by President Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his wife Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva.
Amidst performances by schoolchildren, including traditional songs and dances, the symbolic passing of the school's key to future generations underscored the enduring spirit of the community. Notably, the "Yalli" dance, a cherished cultural tradition, added vibrancy to the celebrations.
Reflecting on the past, it was noted that the last bell had not rung in Fuzuli since 1992, due to the turmoil caused by occupation. However, this ceremony marked a new chapter, promising a brighter future for the youth of Fuzuli and all liberated territories.
