Azerbaijan secures additional Olympic qualifications for Paris 2024

Azerbaijan has secured additional qualifications for the Summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

Azerbaijani athletes Maryam Sheikhalizadehangah and Ramil Velizadeh earned their spots in the Olympics through official invitation following their performance at the European Swimming Championship in Belgrade, Caliber.Az reports citing Azerbaijani media.

This brings Azerbaijan's total Olympic qualifications to 41 for the games scheduled from July 26 to August 11.

Azerbaijan first competed independently in the Olympic Games in 1996, after gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

Azerbaijan invests in sports infrastructure and athlete development to support its Olympic aspirations. The country's athletes often participate in international competitions to qualify and prepare for the Olympics.
