Air Serbia confirms start date for nonstop Belgrade–Baku route
Serbia’s national carrier Air Serbia has announced that it will begin operating direct flights between Belgrade and Baku on May 3, 2026, marking a significant expansion of its route network toward the South Caucasus.
According to information released by the airline, cited by domestic media, the Belgrade–Baku service will be part of a broader rollout of six new international destinations scheduled for launch next year.
The new routes will be introduced gradually throughout 2026. Flights to Santorini, Greece, are set to begin on April 30, followed by the launch of the Belgrade–Baku route on May 3. Later in the year, Air Serbia will open services to Toronto, Canada, on May 23, Seville, Spain, on September 30, Tenerife, Spain, on October 27, and Tromsø, Norway, on December 14.
The announcement follows earlier signals from the airline’s leadership that preparations for the Baku route were nearing completion. In late November, Air Serbia’s chief executive officer, Jiří Marek, told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that negotiations with the Azerbaijani side on establishing direct flights between Belgrade and Baku were in their final stage.
The launch of the new route is expected to enhance travel and business links between Serbia and Azerbaijan, offering passengers a direct connection between the two capitals for the first time.
