Almost 70 forest fires extinguished in Russia over day
Over the past 24 hours, more than 60 natural fires in an area of almost 7,000 hectares have been put out in Russia.
“According to the information of the regional forestry dispatch services, over the past day on August 5, in 19 regions of Russia, forest fire services and involved persons extinguished 66 forest fires in an area covered by fire of 6,048 hectares,” Gazeta.ru quotes Avialesookhrana saying on its official Telegram channel.
As it is underlined, 176 forest fires in an area of 168,702 hectares were still active in the Russian Federation by midnight on August 5. These centres of fire in forest areas were actively extinguished, the agency said.
The largest area of fires is observed in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). In this region, there are 59 fires on the area of 149,362 hectares.
