Armenia, Azerbaijan manage to agree on basic principles of peace - Rubinyan
Armenia and Azerbaijan have managed to agree on the basic principles of peace.
Ruben Rubinyan, Armenia’s Deputy Speaker and Special Representative for the Armenia-Türkiye Dialogue Process, told a panel on "Peace, Development, and Ties in the South Caucasus" at the III Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Report says.
Speaking about the process of normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan, Rubinyan expressed the hope that the sides will be able to achieve the necessary results.
He recalled that Armenia and Azerbaijan have already managed to agree on the basic principles of peace - it is the recognition of each other's territorial integrity based on the Almaty Declaration, the unblocking of regional communications based on the principle of sovereignty.
"If we can incorporate the principles already agreed upon by the heads of the two countries into an agreement, peace can be achieved very quickly," Rubinyan said.
Speaking about the normalization of Armenia's relations with Türkiye, he noted that the most important thing in such a sensitive issue is the implementation of the agreements.
According to him, if agreements are signed between Armenia and Türkiye in the future, they must be realized.
Rubinyan said that even though the level of trust of the peoples towards each other is at a low level, the sides are striving for the normalization of relations.
"We continue this process and I hope that Sardar Kılıç and I will achieve the goal we set together - full normalization of relations between Armenia and Türkiye and establishment of diplomatic relations," he concluded.
