Armenia, EU close to signing Action Plan for visa-free travel, FM says

27 October 2025 17:22

Armenia and the European Union are preparing to sign an action plan that will open the path to a visa-free regime, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.

He made this statement during a discussion of the 2026 state budget project, specifically regarding European integration, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The minister said that preparations for a visa-free agreement are progressing at an accelerated pace—faster than in the case of many other countries.

“We are already at the final stage. We will soon sign the agreed action plan, and its implementation will become a key condition for obtaining a visa-free regime with the European Union,” Mirzoyan noted.

The Foreign Minister also reported that Armenia and the European Commission have completed 99% of the preparation of a new Partnership Agreement, which is expected to replace the document signed in November 2017.

According to him, some parts of the previous agreement have already been fulfilled, while others have become outdated, so the signing of the updated document is planned in the near future.
