Iran's army gets new shipment of 1,000 drones, Tasnim says
The Iranian military has received a new batch of 1,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Tasnim news agency reports.
The drones have been distributed among various branches of the country’s armed forces, the report says.
"These drones were built by army specialists with the cooperation of the Ministry of Defense, tailored to modern threats and the experiences of the 12-day war. They are designed in the categories of strike, attack, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare to destroy specific fixed and moving targets at sea, in the air, and on land," the agency wrote on Telegram.
After ordering the integration of the land- and sea-based drones, commander-in-chief of Iran's Army, Maj. Gen. Amir Hatami said: “In line with the threats ahead, maintaining and enhancing strategic advantages for rapid combat and a crushing response to any aggression and aggressor has always been on the Army's agenda.”
The Tasnim agency said no image of the drones has been released due to military secrecy considerations.
The delivery comes amid U.S. President Donald Trump warning of possible strikes against Iranian targets if Tehran does not respond to American demands on issues including its nuclear programme and the crackdown on protestors. Trump recently wrote on Truth Social that the U.S. is sending an “armada” of warships to the Middle East as a show of force and threatened military action against Iran, prompting Iranian officials to warn of swift retaliation against any attack.
