Russian MFA believes NATO "effectively preparing" for conflict with Moscow
The Russian Foreign Ministry views NATO as effectively preparing for a possible conflict with Moscow.
This view was expressed by the Director of the Ministry’s Department for European Affairs, Vladislav Maslennikov, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian state media.
Maslennikov believes that Russia will remain “the most significant and direct threat to security” in the alliance’s doctrinal documents even once the conflict in Ukraine comes to an end.
“Based on this, NATO is effectively preparing for a possible conflict with Russia: it is increasing military spending, building up its capabilities along the perimeter of our borders, and deploying ever more missions and operations in Eastern Europe,” Maslennikov stated.
The diplomat had previously revealed that only an emergency communication channel remains between Russia and NATO, clarifying that the alliance severed all contacts with the Russian side in 2022.
