Armenia opens criminal case against ex-minister’s son
Armenia’s Investigation Committee has initiated a criminal case against Ara Oskanyan, the son of former Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan.
Ara is suspected of fraud, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Yerevan-based Zhokhovurd newspaper.
The newspaper wrote the former minister’s son sold the property in custody and a criminal complaint was lodged with law enforcement agencies.
This is not the first time that the former minister's son has come to the attention of law enforcers. Back in 2017, Ara Oskanyan and Hrant Seradaryan were detained on suspicion of kidnapping in order to force them to pay debts. The criminal case was later dropped.
Oskanyan had earlier criticised Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian's recent actions and statements on Karabakh in a video message, while at the same time expressing his readiness to provide consultative support in finding a solution to the problem in a way that is beneficial for Armenia.
