Armenian opposition party withdraws from parliamentary elections
Armenia’s opposition party, the National Democratic Union (NDU), will not participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, party founder and leader Vazgen Manukyan announced.
Manukyan explained that the decision aims to prevent the fragmentation of votes. He emphasised that opposition forces should consolidate around two to three key parties.
He also advised his supporters to cast their votes for an opposition force aligned with the NDU’s ideology and strategy.
Armenia will hold its next parliamentary elections on June 7, 2026.
These elections will be the first regular national vote in Armenia since 2017, following a period marked by crisis‑driven snap elections in 2018 and 2021 and ongoing political polarisation between the ruling party and historic opposition forces.
