Armenian PM promises live debates, emphasizes fair elections
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he has accepted invitations to participate in debates with all political forces intending to contest the 2026 parliamentary elections.
Pashinyan made the remarks during a conversation with journalists, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
He was responding to an invitation from Arman Tatoyan, leader of the Wings of Unity movement, to engage in debates.
Pashinyan clarified that during the election campaign, he will take part in live debates with participating parties, adding that the elections will ultimately determine each party’s prospects for victory.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that he does not allocate positions for elected offices, noting that community leaders are chosen by the free will of local residents, including candidates on the Civil Contract party list.
Pashinyan further highlighted that members of the Civil Contract party have faced criminal investigations and sentences in multiple instances. He stressed that no investigator or prosecutor is constrained in pursuing any criminal case.
“If anyone claims that such limitations exist, they are lying,” Pashinyan concluded, reinforcing his stance on the impartiality and transparency of legal and electoral processes.
