Armenian PM welcomes Azerbaijani president's decision to unblock cargo transit
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has welcomed the recent decision by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to unblock transit for cargoes destined for Armenia through Azerbaijani territory, calling it a significant step toward enhancing regional stability and economic cooperation.
Speaking at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting on December 11, Pashinyan highlighted the decision as a key achievement in efforts to establish lasting peace in the region, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Pashinyan emphasised that Armenia views the expansion of the Eurasian Economic Union’s (EAEU) foreign economic relations as crucial for the organisation’s growing role in the global economy. He stressed that the conclusion of new free trade agreements would not only strengthen dialogue between member states but also promote competitiveness and open new avenues for economic growth.
In addition, Pashinyan pointed to the transport and logistics sector as another vital element for deepening economic cooperation. He noted that the diversification of transport infrastructure could play a critical role in boosting trade turnover within the EAEU. He also welcomed the positive changes occurring in the region, which, he said, provide new opportunities to enhance economic cooperation.
