Armenian Telegram channel labels Muslims as terrorists in controversial post
Armenia has expressed frustration over the swift and unexpected collapse of the Assad regime in Syria, an event that has deeply impacted the country's political outlook.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who had supported Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and even sent a contingent of 83 people to Syria in 2019, is reportedly agitated by the unfolding developments, Caliber.Az reports.
This move, which was considered a bold gesture, was followed by a tactical retreat when the Syrian opposition entered Damascus—something even former President Serzh Sargsyan had refrained from doing.
Now, amid the heightened tensions, the rhetoric surrounding pro-Assad support has grown increasingly extreme. A post from the popular Armenian Telegram channel "Infoteka 24" recently sparked outrage, as it referred to ethnic groups, including Uzbeks, Tajiks, and Chechens, as “terrorists in Latakia.”
The post questioned the national identity of the Syrian opposition, insinuating that entire nations were associated with terrorism.
