Azerbaijan, Brazil aim to enhance trade relations during BRICS summit

23 October 2024 21:15

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira during the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan city on October 23.

The two ministers discussed spheres for bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Brazil, as well as preparation for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.

The importance of enhancing mutual visits and contacts to further develop the political dialogue between the two countries was emphasised. Political consultations are beneficial for exploring cooperation opportunities.

The sides acknowledged that the current trade volume between Azerbaijan and Brazil does not align with their priorities for deepening cooperation. They emphasised the importance of leveraging existing potential to enhance trade and economic relations.

Bayramov provided his counterpart with detailed information about the negotiation process underway within COP29, highlighting Azerbaijan's initiatives and priorities for its presidency.

He underscored the significance of cooperation in the "Troika" format. He expressed hope that progress would be made during the Baku conference in securing funding to combat climate change.
