Azerbaijan, Germany FMs meet in Munich to boost cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his German counterpart Johann David Wadephul on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference to discuss the development of bilateral Azerbaijan-Germany relations.
According to the ministry, the talks focused on political dialogue, energy security, the green transition, trade, transport, and humanitarian cooperation, Caliber.Az reports.
Regional issues were also discussed, including the Armenian-Azerbaijani normalisation process and efforts toward post-conflict recovery.
The talks also underlined Azerbaijan’s strategic role in energy and transport projects, contributing to Europe’s energy security and the region’s sustainable development. Discussions covered prospects for cooperation in renewable energy and joint initiatives supporting the “green transition,” including efforts across the wider region, notably in Central Asia.
The importance of engagement within international organizations was emphasized, with satisfaction expressed over continued cooperation and mutual support on multilateral platforms based on respect for each other’s legitimate interests and mutual trust.
The Azerbaijani side briefed partners on the current post-conflict situation in the region, the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and measures taken by Azerbaijan to ensure de facto peace and initial regional cooperation following the historic Washington summit.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
