Ambassador Alizada explained that the decision to hold the meeting followed a recent visit by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev to Iran.
“On October 14-15, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Mustafayev conducted a business visit to Iran, where he was received by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He also held productive discussions with Iran’s ministers of foreign affairs, roads and urban development, energy, oil, economy, and finance,” he stated.
During these meetings, the two sides addressed the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, as well as ongoing joint projects and various regional and bilateral issues.
“At the reception and during the discussions, the importance of further strengthening Azerbaijani-Iranian relations and enhancing cooperation was emphasized, leading to the decision to convene a regular meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission in Tehran in the near future,” Alizada added.
