Azerbaijan, Italy cultivate stronger ties in agricultural innovation
As part of a working visit to Italy, a delegation headed by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov, engaged in discussions aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
Minister Mammadov met with Mariateresa Maschio, President of the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation (FederUnacoma), during the visit, Caliber.Az reports, citing the press service of the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry.
Minister Mammadov outlined the significant reforms and support mechanisms implemented to strengthen Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasised that agriculture in Azerbaijan benefits from extensive state support and is exempt from all taxes except land tax.
The minister also highlighted the government’s provision of subsidies, concessional loans, and various incentives to encourage development in the sector. One key topic of the meeting was the potential for Italian companies to present and supply modern agricultural machinery in Azerbaijan.
FederUnacoma President Mariateresa Maschio gave a comprehensive overview of the federation’s activities, noting that it unites producers of advanced agricultural machinery and technology. She expressed a strong interest in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan in this field.
The two sides explored a range of potential collaborative initiatives, including modernising Azerbaijan’s fleet of agricultural machinery, enhancing the mechanisation level of local farming, and establishing an Italian Agricultural Machinery Centre in Azerbaijan.
They also discussed the implementation of joint efforts to promote resource-efficient agricultural technologies, along with other mutually beneficial projects.
