Azerbaijan launches improvement work at Russian cemetery in Baku
Azerbaijan’s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva has given instruction to carry out improvement work at the Russian cemetery in Sabunchu District’s Balakhani settlement.
The instruction was assigned to the Head of the Department for Territorial and Organizational Issues of the Presidential Administration Zeynal Naghdaliyev, Azertac reports.
In compliance with the instruction, Naghdaliyev visited the spot and met with residents, including representatives of the Russian community, and initiated improvement work in the area.
An appeal has also been made to the relevant authorities in connection with the laying of a water pipe in the cemetery.
In addition, a decision was taken to replace destroyed tombstones with new ones and to fence the cemetery for protection purposes.
A criminal case has been initiated and an investigation launched by the Ministry of Interior over the issue.
