Mexico’s envoy eyes academic cooperation with Azerbaijan during Nakhchivan trip Photo
Mexico’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Maria Victoria Romero Caballero visited the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on April 24, underscoring the steady development of bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation, particularly in higher education and regional stability.
During her visit, the ambassador met with Jeyhun Jalilov, the Plenipotentiary Representative of Azerbaijan’s President in Nakhchivan. Both sides noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico—grounded in mutual trust and friendship—continue to advance positively, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The discussions emphasised the importance of expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. Particular attention was given to academic collaboration, with both parties exploring opportunities for partnerships between leading universities in Nakhchivan and Mexico. Proposed initiatives included the signing of memorandums of understanding, the establishment of dual-degree programs, and the promotion of student and faculty exchanges, alongside joint research and scientific projects.
The meeting also touched on regional developments, with both sides welcoming progress achieved within the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
