TURKPA Secretary General condemns burning of Türkiye’s flag in Yerevan
The Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), Ambassador Ramil Hasan, has strongly condemned the incident involving the burning of Türkiye’s national flag during a “torchlight procession” held on April 23 in Yerevan.
In his statement, Ambassador Hasan stressed that such actions undermine the principles of mutual respect and carry the risk of further escalating tensions in the regional environment.
He underlined that manifestations of ethnic hatred are incompatible with the values of peaceful coexistence and responsible public conduct.
“We reiterate the importance of promoting dialogue, restraint, and mutual respect as essential elements for stability and constructive engagement in the region, based on the norms and principles of international law, as well as the advancement of peace, mutual respect, and trust in the region,” the Secretary General said.
