Azerbaijan mulls withdrawal from Council of Europe and ECHR

Azerbaijan is considering withdrawing from the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights, diplomatic sources told Report.

A decision to withdraw from these two structures may be taken if the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe does not adopt a fair position towards Azerbaijan by the end of this year.

Azerbaijan announced the decision to suspend cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on January 24.

It adopted the decision following PACE's initiative to annul the credentials of the country’s delegation depriving them of a right to vote until 2025.
