Azerbaijan, OIC discuss issues of legal cooperation
The issues of international legal cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) were the focus of discussions held recently at the Constitutional Court (CC) of Azerbaijan.
The meeting featured CC Chairman Farhad Abdullayev and a delegation led by Noura Zaid Alrshud, the executive director of the OIC Independent Permanent Commission on Human Rights, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
During the meeting, Chairman Abdullayev emphasized the collaboration between the Azerbaijan Constitutional Court and other courts as part of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdiction Courts of OIC member states.
He highlighted the importance of such cooperation in advancing legal frameworks and enhancing human rights standards across member countries.
Abdullayev also discussed the outcomes of the 44-day Patriotic War, underscoring that the supremacy of the Constitution of Azerbaijan has been firmly established in the territories liberated from occupation. This assertion reflects the commitment of the Azerbaijani government to uphold constitutional rights and ensure legal order in these regions.
Additionally, the CC President commended the report prepared following the visit of the OIC Independent Permanent Commission on Human Rights to the liberated lands of Azerbaijan, which took place from September 23 to 25, 2021.
Abdullayev noted the significance of this report in understanding the current human rights situation in the post-conflict context.
